Delaware Valley Regional High School is a regional, four-year public high school and school district, that serves students in western Hunterdon County. The high school is located in Alexandria Township. Students hail from the townships of Alexandria, Holland and Kingwood along with the boroughs of Frenchtown and Milford.[2]

As of the 2005-06 school year, the school had an enrollment of 938 students and 74.5 classroom teachers (on a FTE basis, for a student-teacher ratio of 12.6.[1]

Awards and recognition

The school was the 83rd-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 314 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2008 cover story on the state's Top Public High Schools. The school was ranked 80th in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which included 316 schools across the state.[3]

Athletics

The Del Val wrestling team has an acknowledgeable history, including 8 individual state champions and 33 individual state placewinners[4]. The team has been the New Jersey Group II Champion seven times and Central Jersey Group II Champion fourteen times.

The Delaware Valley Regional High School wrestling team reached the finals of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group II tourney defeating Raritan High School 42-19 to win the 2006 championship.[5] In the 2006 Group II Championship, the team made it to the finals, losing to Kittatinny Regional High School 30-29.[6]

The school's boys and girls cross-country teams have achieved success in the past few decades. Many star runners have led the teams to victory in sectionals and state championships.

The football team made it to the 2007 Football - Central, Group II state sectional tournament, falling to Carteret High School by a score of 13-7.[7]

Their Marching band is the NJ Group 2A Champions for 2008. They contribute a significant amount of hardware to the school's trophy cases each year and took third in the USSBA Group 2A Northern State Championships.

2008 Bomb Scare

On May 6, 2008, a message was found on a wall in one of the girl's bathrooms in the school that read, "Everybody is going to die on May 9 at 12:12." On the same day, faculty called up local police squads, and the situation was announced to the students the next morning. On May 9, the school was filled with police squads and bomb-sniffing dogs. Every student needed to be smelled by the dogs to get into class, and no student was allowed to have a backpack at any time during the day.
