The following is a list of the chiefs of the [[Clan Fraser]], in chronological order. The Chiefs of Clan Fraser often use the [[Scottish Gaelic language|Gaelic]] [[patronym]] '''MacShimidh''', meaning Son of Simon. Simon is the favoured family name for the Chiefs of Clan Fraser. They are often numbered ''1st MacShimidh, 2nd MacShimidh, 3rd MachSimidh,'' etc. There is some debate on where exactly the numbering should start, as Fraser ties to Lovat land go back at least as far as 1253. The line does not necessarily represent a direct line of descent, though most Chiefs took on their responsibility upon the death of their father.


For security reasons the league was divided into three groups; Baghdad, North and South, The top six clubs from the Baghdad group and the top four clubs from the North and South groups qualified for the Elite Stage. The Elite Stage consisted of three groups, from which the winners and one runner-up qualified for the Golden Stage, a knockout tournament. The Golden Stage matches were held in [[Al-Shaab Stadium]] in [[Baghdad]].

It should be noted that the Lady Saltoun is not a descendant of the Shimidh, the Simon from whom the Clan Fraser traces its lineage. As explained elsewhere, she is descended from the Shimidh's older brother. So, though the Lord Lovat is still the Chieftain of Clan Fraser, the MacShimidh, the Lord Lyon has made official the seniority of the Lady Saltoun's line.

The selection of a clan chieftain is traditionally very different than the Teutonic/Norman system of inherited titles. A Clan would elect and follow whatever chief it chose. Unfortunately, from a history student's perspective, in the case of the Clan Fraser, this decree has muddied the waters a bit, regarding both what the Clan truly is and has been.<ref name=FraserCal/> Frasers differ on the matter, but most Lovats still regard the Lord Lovat as their chief, while many lowland Frasers, who have latched on to the romanticised view of Clans and the Highlands, are happy to have found a way to link themselves to Highland culture. There is, of course, some cross-over of opinions, and Frasers tend to respect each other as fellow Frasers, regardless of where they come from.

The 2007-08 Iraq Super League season started on 26 November 2007 and ended on 24 August 2008. The season saw Arbil crowned as champions.

For security reasons the league was divided into three groups; Baghdad, North and South, The top six clubs from the Baghdad group and the top four clubs from the North and South groups qualified for the Elite Stage. The Elite Stage consisted of three groups, from which the winners and one runner-up qualified for the Golden Stage, a knockout tournament. The Golden Stage matches were held in Al-Shaab Stadium in Baghdad.

The champions and runners-up (Al-Zawraa) qualified for the 2009 AFC Cup (Iraq is excluded from the AFC Champions League due to not fulfilling the AFC demand of having a fully-professional league), while third-placed Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya qualified for the 2008-09 Arab Champions League.

  • 14 Teams qualify to the Elite stage: Baghdad (6), North (4) and South (4).
  • 7 Teams relegate to the lower Division: Baghdad (3), North (2) and South (2).

4 Substitutions

The IFA made a new rule: the clubs can use 4 substitutions instead of 3 substitutions. IFA added this section in their last meeting with the clubs' officials and all teams agreed with the new rule.
