A shock site is a website which aims to offend as many people as possible, generally by showing offensive images.

Major Shock Sites

Goatse.cx

Main article: Goatse.cx

Goatse.cx is one of the most well-known shock sites, and perhaps the most infamous. The image that first appears on the site, hello.jpg, shows a man stretching his anus with two hands.

While that specific site was taken down by the NIC .cx authority in January 2004, Goat.cx and Hick.org/goat/ became used instead of the original location, and many mirror sites containing the images still exist.

Mr Hands is slightly different to other shock sites, in that it is a video designed to shock viewers.

Tubboy.net

Tubboy.net is an amateur attempt to reproduce the now defunct Tubgirl, which is described below. The name of the website is written on the subject's buttocks, making it clear that the man featured on the site is directly connected to the site itself, which was not the case with Tubgirl. The [M] logo, which appears prominently, is the a recognised emblem of the General Mayhem forums; the original thread which describes Tubboy can be found in General Mayhem's Vault section.

Tabwin.com/Puss.html

The site contains a 9999999x9999999 pixel image of a man holding a paintball gun, an image so large that it can slow down and crash the visitor's web browser, and potentially the visitor's operating system. The URL is not obviously obscene, which helps to trick people to the site.

ElderlyCareCenter.org

ElderlyCareCenter.org contains the same image as Lemonparty (see below), but without a banner advertisement. The site instead has the text "Welcome to the Elderly Care Center Foundation." The front page also has the text "About", which leads to Lemonparty, and "Contact", which leads to a page that has the text "How do you like my page???? email me @ elderlycarecenter@gmail.com". Recent evidence shows that the email address is genuine, and that people who have sent emails to it have gotten replies from "Lou Goldstein".

Hai2U.com

Hai2u.com features an image of a woman vomiting while performing fellatio on man sitting in a lawn chair, taken from a photo shoot by Max Hardcore. The actress uses the stage name Catalina and is featured in several of Hardcore's films. The site has the text "HAI2U!!!1 :)" in bold at the top of the page.

dermotoleary.co.uk

dermotoleary.co.uk also contains the same image as lemonparty.org. The site consists of the image itself on a blank page. Dermot O'Leary is a British television presenter, and the site's address is assumed as a Google bomb-style attempt to disparage him. This site is now defunct (as of June 2005).


Harlequin fetus

The many sites that have pictures of the harlequin fetus syndrome are generally not intended to be shock sites. The pictures show a baby with cracked, dry skin, no ears or nose, bloody eyes, and swollen feet and hands. Many internet trolls link to such pictures anyway to shock people.

Pillowfight

Pillowfight is a picture of a man's genitals covered in feces. It was formerly on the 404 error page at dolphinsex.org, along with an article on coprophilia, but that site is now down.

Last Measure

Last Measure is a malicious shock site combining many of the shock sites listed on this page:

  • pooped.jpg, a picture of a woman's face with feces on it. The picture comes from www.bangedup.com
  • rustina.jpg, depicts the wife of Rusty Foster, creator of Kuro5hin. Her face is Photoshopped onto a picture of a naked woman having sex with a black man with a large penis.
  • eww.jpg, a picture of a young girl, with two naked people in the background, with one of the people exposing his buttocks. The text "The Fuck What?!" in red is visible, with the man's naked buttocks circled in a red circle.
  • freak.jpg (a picture of a naked black female body builder).
  • Some versions contain weightlifter.jpg, a picture of a powerlifter with red trousers suffering from an anal prolapse. The intestine is seen through a hole in his trousers.

Last Measure abuses JavaScript to make it very hard to leave the website once you visit it, short of shutting down the computer or end-tasking the said web browser. The main page plays a voice using the Flash plugin (hey.swf) shouting "HEY EVERYBODY. I'M LOOKING AT GAY PORNO!" at a high volume, while the various shock images move around in popup windows, bouncing off the sides of the screen. The voice in previous Last Measure versions was fsckyou.wav.mp3. fsck is a Unix utility that checks filesystems for consistency, but is used in this context as a modified version of the vulgarity fuck.

The page immediately shown when taken to the site has a picture (pooped.jpg) of a woman with feces on her face. Goatse's hello.jpg is set as the page's background picture. At the bottom of the page is "Lastmeasure last measure last-measure nero institute", which is an attempt to get the page listed under Google. The title of the page is "Our lawyer has informed us that we need a warning. So, if you are under the age of 18 or find this offensive, please leave immediately", which is a takeoff on the text on the front page of Goatse. On two of the Last Measure pages (both on h4xx.com) the text "Like what you see? Got a complaint? Email wrt AT forpresident DOT com." is visible.

The page at Zeikfried had the title "This is my LastMeasure, my FinalHope. Lovez and kissez from Zeikfried~!" The page at peoplesprimary.com had a wide, blank image at the bottom of the screen. Below it were the words "If you have a screen larger than this i'll eat my own shit. - this button shit is +1 insightful." Both of the aforementioned pages were suspended.

Pressing Ctrl or Alt, under Internet Explorer on Windows, gives the "victim" an alert message with the same text. Pressing Del gives the user the "Credits".

The lastmeasure site also has a script that automates the displaying of these things.

Recently, the script has been removed from the front page of the original domain.

SnuffX.com

SnuffX is a large shock site that posts regular updates of pornography and death videos. It contains a large video archive of accident, celebrity, execution, and porn videos. The webmaster, Daeryk, was named the King Of E/N (Everything/Nothing) websites by bizarre magazine.

Stopracism.tk

Stopracism.tk has a picture of two men, one white and one black, having anal sex in a yard.

Ogrish.com

Ogrish is an enormous, comprehensive site filled with images of gore, autopsies, amputations, and snuff movies. Ogrish's infamy peaked when photos of World Trade Center "jumper" victims emerged on the site, along with photographs of other 9/11 victims, shortly after the terrorist attacks. Workse

Workse, a clone of the popular Goatse.cx page, featuring a televised Japanese comedian (Rakkyo Ide) being sodomized by what the site claims is a kangaroo, but according to the on-screen graphic is a dog of Tosa breed.

Fuck.org

Fuck.org features a large picture of a black man having sex with an inflatable dolphin.

Exet.nu

Exet.nu is a Swedish site, formerly known as expressen.nu. The site is full of pictures of amputations, accidents, pictures from the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, alledged snuff movies and other material generally considered offensive. There are also numerous flash games on the site.

Other shock sites

  • Stretch (stretch.ragingfist.net) is another picture of a man distending his rectum, seemingly almost to the point of prolapse. Unlike goatse, the man is not wearing a wedding ring. It is currently located at http://stretch.ragingfist.net/.
  • Drekkend is a popular Dutch weblog that shows pictures and videos that are usually of a shocking, bizarre or strangely funny nature. The material varies strongly, from accidents or incidents mainly caused by people who take unintelligent actions to decapitations and ultra-bloody shockmixes. It was established in 2004.
  • The Pain Series is a collection of seven JPEGs, each containing a number of shocking images pasted together. It was created by Huge_Midget of the Something Awful forums, whose users commonly use it as a prank, or when someone leeches (directly shows an image without linking to the site, or asking the webmaster's permission, thus robbing the linked site of bandwidth) pictures from their websites. Each of the pain series pictures contains some combination of other shock site photos arranged in a collage. According to a WHOIS search, the site that the Pain Series was originally located at (http://www.crazyninjas.org/kittens) is due for deletion, presumably due to violating the host's agreement terms. However, the ubiquitous status of the pictures on the Something Awful forums means that there are probably many alternate locations that host the Pain Series.
    • Pain.jpg shows the Goatse.cx hello.jpg, the Tubgirl.com picture, two Harlequin Fetus pictures, other gap.zip pictures, a picture of a man eating feces from another man's anus, an anime scene of a girl cut open and her innards served as some kind of meal, a picture of a man with his face blown off (Rotten.com's "Motorcycle" picture), a closeup of a vulva afflicted by an STD, and an anime scene of a hermaphrodite centaur with milk coming out of her breasts and semen out of her penises. The caption "Roofle. Owned. Scrub." is in the picture, next to Something Awful's grenade logo.
    • Pain2.jpg shows Goatse, Tubgirl, Harlequin Fetus, Lemonparty, a closeup of a vulva afflicted by an STD, other gap.zip pictures, an anime scene of a girl cut open and her innards served as some kind of meal, a picture of a man with his face blown off (Rotten.com's "Motorcycle" picture), scenes of scatological sex, an anime scene of a man performing sexual acts on a mutilated, dead woman, an anime scene of a woman dissected (this image seems to be drawn by the well known guro hentai artist Waita Uziga), a picture of a man eating feces from another man's anus, a picture of a woman with a broken neck, an anime scene of a girl cut open and her innards served as some kind of meal, a picture of a man defecating into a pair of tubes, and an anime scene of a hermaphrodite centaur with milk coming out of her breasts and semen out of her penises. The picture has the captions "Mmm" for the Coprophagia picture. It also has the caption "I hope you like this picture as much as I do."

    • Awesome.jpg shows Goatse, Tubgirl, a syringe injecting feces into a penis (from Adorable Bunnies: Jebus Loves You), Wormeye, a dead man with his head crushed (Helicopter from rotten.com), a dissected penis, a closeup of a vulva afflicted by an STD, and a disfigured hand.
    • A spoof of the Pain series also exists; it depicts several pictures of Michael Jackson, several pictures of Nokia's N-Gage gaming system, a picture of George W. Bush, the 'y helo thar buttsekz' man from the 'Attention Whore' flash movie, a man with piercings all over his face, a boy holding a cockroach, a close-up of an unidentified insect, and an outhouse filled with spiders.

  • Ratemypoo.com is another "rateme" parody that features submitted pictures of fecal matter. It is hosted by rotten.com.
  • Seizure Measure/Browser Bomb/GOD LOVES YOU AND RAINS HIS HOLY LIGHT UPON YOU is based on Last Measure, but contains a flash application that plays music and flashes bright colors in an attempt to trigger an epileptic seizure. The page abuses JavaScript to cause hundreds of non-moving popups of the flash to invade the screen, hence the name Browser Bomb.
  • Scat, from www.shitpassion.com, is a scatological shock image showing a man and a woman with feces all over their buttocks and genitals.
  • Wormeye is a series of pictures of an eye surgery in which a worm is being removed from the eye.
  • phreak.org/ana/skinny.html shows naked fat women skinny-dipping.
  • The Lou images on The Best Page in the Universe are shock images that the owner (nicknamed Maddox) uses to joke around with his friends and to shock his enemies. One of the lou images is the image found on lemonparty.
  • The sooosexay.ytmnd.com site tricks people into viewing Nick Berg's execution. The background image is tiled in the background, with the foreground being the text "oops. =)". The song "Get Low" is played in the background. hlaohnoes.ytmnd.com tricks people into seeing Paul Johnson's execution. Both of these pages are no longer functional, instead simply displaying the text "Site not found. :(". In addition, YTMND shock sites are sometime considered a fad on that site.
  • Screamers are mild shock sites that are designed to make the viewer "jump", often by including flash-frames in what purport to be innocuous video films.
  • www.faggotry.com displays an old (or digitally altered to create the impression of), sepia tone picture of five men engaged in the act of fornication. One of the men is lying on his back, being fellated by another, who is in turn being penetrated by another, who is in turn being penetrated by another, who is in turn being penetrated by the fifth. The keywords used to help categorize the page with search engines contains various non-related terms such as: "white power, gilligan's island, radio free berkeley and iambic pentameter" among others. Related to faggotry.com is www.faggotry.org, an image of multiple men performing fellatio on each other.
  • When one is brought to Albino Black Sheep - You are An Idiot page, a Macromedia Flash movie called youare.swf is seen, which chants "You are an idiot, hahahahahahahahahahaha" over and over again, and flashes black and white smiley faces. When the user closes the browser window, the page abuses JavaScript so that a flurry of moving popups with the flash are made. Attempting to close these windows, which is difficult because they are flying around on the screen, results in even more popups, sometimes causing the computer to crash or stop responding. A browser with a popup blocker prevents this.
  • The Gummi Series depicts a man putting various objects into his urethra.
  • The penisbird image is a picture of a large parrot perched on a man's erect penis. Rotten.com hosts the image at the domain smoke.rotten.com. The page (linked below) of the penisbird contains a note from a Slashdot reader asking that the image be relocated (if not removed) because Slashdot trolls are using hyperlinks to send unsuspecting users there. The page also mentions a crude ASCII art version of the penisbird, which appears from time to time on Slashdot.
  • Valve-software.com is a shock site attempting to catch users who mistype Valve Software's web site URL.
  • Ljabuse.com and denisepaolucci.com are based upon GNAA's Last Measure shock site engine. They feature classic Last Measure images with crudely photoshopped faces of Denise Paolucci, a LiveJournal employee that heads up the Abuse team.

Former shock sites

tubgirl.com

Tubgirl.com was a redirect to a picture (tubgirl.jpg) of a naked woman lying in a bathtub, buttocks raised, projecting a fountain of liquid feces from her anus, after apparently having been given an enema. The liquid (also rumored to be orange juice) splashes over her body and face. Her pubic region is censored with a mosaic. Before the launch of tubgirl.com, this image was featured in a rotten.com story "Fecal Japan" claiming that the subject matter is allegedly popular in Japan. The image displayed on tubgirl.com is marked as having been previously posted on http://www.consumptionjunction.com. The reason for the site's demise is unknown.

Klerck.org

Klerck.org was a website that had several shock images. The website's domain expired.

Spin.gif is an animated GIF file depicting an act of anal sex between two men. One man is seated, and the other is sitting on his lap. The penis of the man below is inserted into the anus of the man on top. The man on top is moving up and down, causing his penis to spin in a clockwise direction; the image is animated in such a way that the spinning motion of the penis appears to be infinite. Spin.gif has now been immortalized on the ytmnd site Ridin' Spinnaz (http://ridinspinnaz.ytmnd.com). It depicts the animated gif in sync with a song called "Ridin' Spinnaz" by Three-Six Mafia. Several shock sites (including http://www.pr0ndar.com/ and http://xxx.dvd-post.com/) host modified Flash versions of "the spin" as a screamer.

The man with the spinning penis has a tan line indicating he has worn a thong; this has led some to believe that this person is actually a male-to-female transsexual who has not yet undergone sexual reassignment surgery.

Christmas.jpg is a picture of a person stretching her anus to "goatse" proportions with a table clamp.

The former webmaster of the site, Klerck, was found dead in the bathroom of his boyfriend's apartment on the morning of 8th March, 2005. He posted a suicide note on his LiveJournal, which was located Here, but has been suspended. A mirror of the suicide note can be found here.

Diddlers.info

Diddlers.info was a domain owned by the user known as Method Loser of the Something Awful internet forums. The domain is for sale.

The base url directed the recipient to a website with the words "HOT HOT DIDDLING ACTION, MUST BE 18+" followed by, first, a picture (sad.jpg) of Kirk Johnson (a man believed to be the person in the Goatse.cx pictures) stretching his anus with a bottle. The second picture was loopback.jpg (this time using the filename self.jpg), which was taken from the Goatse.cx website, a picture of a man looping his penis into his anus.

The text follows:

(The following picture, shirts.jpg, showed a picture of high-school students of Oak Harbor, Ohio next to the Oak Harbor High School sign wearing custom-made shirts with DIDDLERS printed on them. The website was made popular by sophomore Steve Majors, who was included in the picture.)

The background music was "On the Good Ship, Lollipop". The title of the page is "OMG 18+".

The simmer section showed two pictures from Rotten.com showing unidentifiable black goop in a bathtub. The following text was in the page:
"Writes the submitter: "Here are some pictures from my police station in XXX. The pictures are of a 90ish old male that was having a bath. He had something that looked like an oversized element from a kettle to help with keeping the water hot. Unfortunately he died and was in the bath for over 2 weeks with the water almost boiling. What you see on the left side of the lower picture are his legs. When the guys took hold of his legs to try and get some of him out of the bath all they got was a bone as it simply slid out of the flesh. The following day the cleaners came in and scooped up almost 50kg of goop that made up his body. If you look closely at the picture you can just make out the shape of a body. Obviously the smell was... um... interesting."

Bakla.net

Bakla.net first has three images of a woman in a dress (ann12.jpg, ann17.jpg, and ann18.jpg). Next are three images (china2.jpg, china1.jpg, and china3.jpg) of a transgendered woman wearing a black shirt and bluejeans. The final image (china3.jpg) is of the woman naked, sitting on a bed, revealing her penis and breasts. "Bakla" is a Tagalog (Filipino) derogatory term for homosexual, basically equivalent to "queer" in English. The person shown on the page is from the Philippines. Bakla.net is no longer active, but can be viewed on archive.org.

Ratemygoatse.cx

Ratemygoatse.cx was a rate me site of goatse related material in the style of the Hot or Not site. This site contains several grotesque images of people attempting different styles of "goatses". The original domain was deleted by the Christmas Island authorities.

Honkee.org

Honkee.org was a site containing violently anti-semitic and homophobic posts, along with images, animated .gifs and short .avi movies on the same theme. The site went offline in 2004, apparently due to lack of funds.

http://www.newsfilter.org/ Not a "shock site," but this offensive website has a number of videos ranging from pornography, death tapes, and disgusting behavior.

Central collections

Boobtits, Dwoloz, other mirrors

In the past several months, many of these websites have become non-functional, whether due to heavy traffic, apathetic webmasters, or pressure from ISPs. Mirrors of the above described images can be found at boobtits.com. Both of these sites serve as central collections for all of the popular shock images, both of which are believed to be maintained by administrators from the General Mayhem Forums, a site known for its off-colour humor.

Additional mirrors are constantly being created for more reliability and increased exposure of these images, one of which is raw-cs.com.

Adorable Bunnies

A partial collection of offensive pictures can be found at adorablebunnies.com. This site features user-uploaded content, which is reviewed and archived by moderators. It is worth noting that AdorableBunnies was responsible for hosting goat.cx.
