Young Money Entertainment is an American record label founded by New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne. The label is an imprint of Cash Money Records, of which Lil Wayne was president, and is distributed by Universal Records[1]. As of October 2, 2007, Lil Wayne has stated in an interview with Vibe magazine that he gave his position in Young Money Entertainment to Cortez Bryant[2].

Controversy

There has been some controversy surrounding the Young Money Entertainment label. In January of 2008, Lil' Wayne went to court for drugs and weapons charges he faced in Yuma, Arizona. That same day, he arrived to his scheduled concert in Richmond, Virginia, and stressed to the crowd that he had an attitude and was mad about a few things that happened. He said that it bothers him to know that the same people who said they would be there for him turned their backs on him, but he didn't name any names. He then took off his jacket and threw it in his DJ's face, who happens to be Cortez Bryant, his manager and recently appointed president of Young Money. The Young Money Entertainment camp has not been through any more controversy, as they recently released a new track titled "Throwback" which features Lil' Wayne. Currensy, a memeber of Young Money, is set to release his debut album titled Music To Fly To later this year. Mack Maine and other members will follow. Lil' Wayne has also been working with a new female rapper, Nicki Minaj, who he recently signed. They are featured together on a track titled "High as a Kite" which is a freestyle over an instrumental used in T.I.'s album T.I. vs. T.I.P. for the track "My Swag".
