Agnes Esterhazy , also Countess Agnes Esterhazy and Agnes Esterhazy (* January 15, 1891 in Cluj , Kingdom of Hungary , Austria-Hungary , † 4. April 1956 in Munich , born Agnes Countess of Josika Branyitska ) was an Austrian actress .

Life

The daughter of Count Josika von Branyitska and his wife, the native Countess Agnes Esterházy, married in 1910 and left Transylvania after the end of the First World War, which now belonged to Romania. In Budapest she received her first film role in 1920, and in 1923 she came to Vienna at the invitation of the Sascha film industry , where she received her next film role. Soon afterwards she went to Berlin via Munich. Esterhazy took on numerous supporting roles in the 1920s, occasionally also leading roles in German films. She was also involved in the classic Die joyllose Gasse .

With the beginning of the sound film age around 1930, her film career was practically over. She still played theater on various stages, especially in Ostrava . In 1943 she made her last small film appearance. She was married to the film producer Harry R. Sokal and the actor Fritz Schulz .
