The Álafoss is a waterfall of the Varmá in Mosfellsbær in the capital area of Iceland .
A water-powered wool manufacture was named after this waterfall in 1896. Today there is only one wool and knitwear shop here. Since April 2013, the waterfall with its 14,000 m 2 small surrounding area has been under nature protection .
Downstream of the waterfall, a former swimming pool became the Sundlaugin recording studio ( isl .: the swimming pool ), in which the band Sigur Rós u. a. recorded her album " ❨ ❩ ", the fifth track of which is entitled Álafoss.
