Álvaro Ortiz Arellano (born February 19, 1978 in Mexico City ) is a retired Mexican football player on the position of defender .

career

Ortiz began his professional career at Club León and moved to Chivas Guadalajara in the summer of 1999 . A year later he received a contract with Club Necaxa, which was still based in his hometown, and also worked for Club América , which was also based in the capital , with which he won the championship title both in summer 2002 and in the Clausura 2005 .

In the 2005/06 and 2006/07 seasons he was a regular at Club San Luis , but was rarely used in the following 2007/08 season at Deportivo Toluca . He spent the following four years at Puebla FC and then only worked briefly at Lobos de la BUAP , again at what is now San Luis FC and most recently at Chiapas FC .

In February 2000 Ortiz completed three appearances for the Mexican national team at the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2000 .
