Ángela Gurría
Ángela Gurría (born March 24, 1929 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican sculptor . She was accepted as the first female member of the Academia de Artes in 1973.
Life
Gurría studied Spanish humanities at the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).
She taught herself the art of sculptural design from 1949, initially self-taught , later she was a student of Germán Cueto and Abraham González and attended the training workshops of Mario Zamora and Montiel Blancas . Her work also includes monumental sculptures, such as the towers of the workers ' monument "Monumento a los Trabajadores del Drenaje Profundo" in Tenayuca . Among the most representative works are probably the “Homenaje a la ceiba” ( German : Honor for the coral bush) from 1977, “Espiral Serfin” from 1980 and “El corazón mágico de Cutzamala” (German: The Magical Heart of Cutzamala ) by 1987.
