Boy Waterman (born January 24, 1984 in Lelystad ) is a Dutch football goalkeeper of Surinamese descent.

Career

societies

Waterman began his career at Ajax Amsterdam , where he only played in his early teens. At the age of 16 he switched to SC Heerenveen , where he promised better prospects. In the 2004/05 season Waterman was first goalkeeper with coach Gertjan Verbeek and was also four times in the UEFA Cup between the posts for the Frisians , but lost his regular place due to an injury to Brian Vandenbussche and was only used sporadically. In the league he did not play a game in 2006. It was only in the second half of the 2006/07 season that he came back to AZ Alkmaar, to whom he was loaned in January 2007 after AZ keeper Joey Didulica was injured. Waterman completed eleven league and six UEFA Cup games for AZ under coach Louis van Gaal in the second half of the season and the club soon made use of its purchase option. In the 2007/08 season Waterman was 22 times in the league and six times in the UEFA Cup used, but lost his regular place in the second half of the season to Sergio Romero . For the 2008/09 season he was awarded to league competitor ADO Den Haag ; The loan was extended by one year in 2009, but Waterman did not become number one in The Hague either, so he wanted to switch to Viking FK in Norway during the winter break . Nothing came of this because Waterman had not recovered from a groin injury in time, so he spent without a job at ADO until the end of the 2009/10 season. For the 2010/11 season Waterman, whose contract with AZ still ran until the end of the season, was loaned to De Graafschap again. Here he was a regular goalkeeper from the start of the season and was in the starting line-up in 33 league games in a row. In 2011 Boy Waterman became the new goalkeeper at the second division Alemannia Aachen . The 27-year-old signed with Alemannia on June 13, 2011 for two years and moved to Tivoli for free. The 2011/12 season ended for him and the club with relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga. For the 2012/13 season Waterman returned to the Eredivisie and signed a one-year contract with PSV Eindhoven .

In the summer of 2013 Waterman moved to the Turkish first division club Kardemir Karabükspor . At this club he immediately won the post of regular player. He played all 34 league games by the end of the season and was only represented by his substitute keepers in the cup matches.

After Karabükspor missed relegation to the Süper Lig in summer 2015, Waterman moved to APOEL Nicosia , where he received a contract until June 2020. Negotiations about his further career are ongoing in summer 2020.

National team

Waterman was a U21 international and was European champion in 2007 . In his appearances in Jong Oranje , he convinced with his reflexes and his control of the penalty area.
