history
Except for the years 1966/67 and 1987/88, the club has always been represented in it since the founding of the Norwegian top league ( Tippeligaen ). The club became known at European level when they were able to throw Chelsea FC out of the UEFA Cup in the 2002/03 season . The key player in the two games was striker Erik Nevland , who soon left the club for Groningen . After the club was only barely able to prevent relegation to the second division at the end of the 2006 season by beating Brann Bergen 5-0 on the last match day , the German Uwe Rösler took over the coaching position for the Vikings.
