Ásmundur Friðriksson

Ásmundur Friðriksson (German transcription Asmundur Fridriksson , born January 21, 1956 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic politician ( Independence Party ).

From 1974 to 1978, Ásmundur was a foreman working on the reconstruction of the town of Heimaey after the eruption of the Eldfell volcano , after he had already participated in the clean-up work in the summer of 1973. From 1980 to 2003 he worked as a freelance journalist , and from 1978 to 1986 as a production manager and senior plant manager in the fish processing department on Vestmannaeyjar . He held various positions in sports clubs and was mayor of the Garður municipality from 2009 to 2012 .

Since the Icelandic parliamentary election on April 27, 2013 , Ásmundur has been a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing for the southern constituency . He is a member of the Committees for Commercial Affairs and Welfare.
