Egyptomania

Egyptomania is a form of enthusiasm for everything ancient Egyptian known since ancient times , hence also called Egyptian fashion or Egyptophilia.
The Egyptian expedition of Napoleon Bonaparte in the years from 1798 to 1801 was fundamental for the modern enthusiasm for Egypt. It was followed by a whole Europe encompassing Egyptian fashion in clothing up to architecture and interior design. The finding of the tomb of Tutankhamun ( KV62 ) by Howard Carter in 1922 and the exhibition of the bust of Nefertiti in 1924 had a similar effect in Europe . It was uncovered in 1912 during excavations by the German Orient Society (DOG) .
