The Äkäsjoki is a river in the west of Finnish Lapland . It has its origin in Lake Äkäsjärvi east of Muonio . It flows south to Äkäslompolo and then turns south-west before flowing into the Muonionjoki after 60 km . Thus it belongs to the catchment area of the Tornionjoki .

There are salmon and trout in Äkäsjoki .
