Änne Söll

Änne Söll (* 1969 ) is a German art historian and professor of art history with a focus on art of the 20th and 21st centuries as well as cultural and gender studies , especially masculinity studies . She has been teaching at the Art History Institute of the Ruhr University Bochum since 2015 and in her research and teaching she deals, among other things, with new objectivity , new media, materiality theories and exhibition concepts in the visual arts.

Life

After studying at Middlesex University in London and Goethe University in Frankfurt , Söll started working on the body in 2003 . Videos and video installations by Pipilotti Rist is doing her doctorate at the University of Fine Arts Braunschweig under Katharina Sykora . She was the recipient of several grants and grants, including from the German Research Foundation and the Fulbright Program . Since 2011 she has been the editor of the journal for art and cultural studies, Critical Reports .

Her habilitation took place in 2014 at the University of Potsdam on the subject of The New Man? Male portraits by Otto Dix, Christian Schad and Anton Räderscheidt . Söll worked as a research assistant at the TU Dortmund and the University of Potsdam before she was appointed to the Ruhr University Bochum in 2015. She is the director of the Period Rooms project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and organized the international conferences, Cultures of Shine.
