history

Even before the industrialization of the Kingdom of Hanover began , the doctor Louis Stromeyer founded the Hanover Medical Association on May 14, 1829 in what was then "Judengasse", later Ballhofstrasse . The foundation was deliberately made on the day of the so-called " Jenner Festival " by a total of 20 founding members.

Although the purpose of the association was not defined in more detail when it was founded;

"§ 1: The purpose of the association is assumed to be known ..."

It has remained essentially the same until recently: the cultivation of collegiality and the practice-related training of both specialists and general practitioners through mutual information, especially about diagnostic and therapeutic medical advances .

In the address book of the royal residence city of Hanover for the year 1841 , the reading room of the library in the club house was mentioned, which later moved to the city library of Hanover .

The location of the office of the Hannover Medical Association has changed frequently in the course of its history. In December 1967 she moved into the newly built medical center on Berliner Allee.

In 1970, the Hanover Medical Association offered gynecologist Egon Fauvet the honorary chairmanship.

Hanover Symposium

Among the events organized by the Hannover Medical Association, the “Hannover Symposium” stands out. It has been held for the first time since 1967 and annually since 1968 together with the Hannover Medical School (MHH).
