The State Academic Kazakh Äuesow-Drama Theater ( Kazakh Мұхтар Әуезов атындағы Қазақ мемлекеттік академиялық драма театры ; Russian . Казахский государственный академический театр драмы им М.О. Ауэзова ) is a theater in the Kazakh city of Almaty . It is named after the Kazakh writer Muchtar Äuesow .

history

The theater was founded in 1926 in Ksyl-Orda, Kazakhstan . The first performance in the Äuesow Theater took place on January 13, 1926 with the play "Enlik-Kebek" by the Kazakh writer Muchtar Äuesow . With the relocation of the capital to Alma-Ata , the theater also moved there. In the 1920s and 1930s, many personalities contributed to the development of the theater, including Smaghul Saduaqasov , People's Commissar for Education of the Kazakh ASSR .

In 1937 the theater was awarded an honorary title as an academic theater. In 1946, on the 20th anniversary of the founding of the theater, it was awarded the Soviet Order of the Red Labor Banner . On August 10, 1961, by decision of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR, the academic theater was named after the famous writer Muchtar Äuesow, who had died just a few weeks earlier. In 1976 the theater was awarded the Order of Friendship of Nations . In 1981 the theater moved into a new building; In the years from 1928 to 1963 the theater had no premises of its own and after that it was housed in a different building.

The Äuesow Theater has been housed in the current building since 1981. It is located on the Esentai River in the central Almaly district , across from the Almaty Circus . In 1982 the three architects were awarded the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR for the building, and at the same time it was entered in the state register as a monument . In front of the entrance there is a statue of Muchtar Äuesow, the facades are clad with granite , marble and shell limestone .
