Éamonn Ceannt Cycling Stadium
The éamonn ceannt Cycling Stadium , also Sundrive Velodrome called, is an open velodrome in Irish Dublin .
The cycle track was built in the late 1950s, making it the oldest cycle track in Ireland. It is located in Éamonn Ceannt Park in the Dublin suburb of Crumlin , named after the Irish freedom fighter Éamonn Ceannt , who was executed in 1916. The track is 458.8 meters long and eight meters wide on the straights. The curve elevation is up to 19 degrees, so the track is relatively flat. In 2009 she received a new tarmac topping for 50,000 Irish pounds . Irish national championships in track cycling are held regularly at the Sundrive Velodrome .
Ireland has two other open cycle tracks, the Orangefield track in Belfast and the Kanturk track in Cork . The country does not yet have a cycling track in a hall. Given the success of Irish track cyclists Martyn Irvine , Caroline Ryan and Eoin Mullen and the growing popularity of track cycling, the Irish cycling association Cycling Ireland is considering setting up one. Dundalk is being discussed as a possible location .
