The École d'ingénieurs de Changins (EIC, German  University of Technology Changins ) is an intercantonal foundation under private law. As part of the University of Applied Sciences in Western Switzerland , it stands for higher education in oenology , viticulture ( professional training ) and fruit growing ( higher technical school (Switzerland) ). The school is the only institution in Switzerland that offers training in oenology. It is located on the same site as the Agroscope Changins-Wädenswil research station , which is affiliated with the Federal Office for Agriculture .

history

The engineering school was founded in 1948 by the French-speaking cantons and the cantons of Bern and Ticino . The school covers the training needs for vocational education and training in fruit growing, viticulture and cellar management. It made its debut in Lausanne (Montagibert), and in 1975 the school moved to the location of the Agroscope Changins-Wädenswil research station on the Changins site in Nyon , with which the engineering school has always had close ties. Since then, the connections between the Agroscope Research Station and the school have always been maintained. Since 1998 it has been part of the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland (HES-SO).

The school has an experimental cellar in which various research and development projects are carried out. All enology students have the opportunity to take part in a one-week exchange with students from the University of Dijon and the Polytechnic Milan Campus Piacenza .
