Éléonore-Justine Ruflin (* July 2, 1832 in Paris ; † October 19, 1905 ibid) belonged to the Bonaparte family by marriage .

Life

Éléonore-Justine Ruflin was born the daughter of a Parisian steel caster. Little is known about her childhood. As a young woman, she met Pierre Napoléon Bonaparte in 1852 , who had previously become a widower. He was a descendant of Lucien Bonaparte , a brother of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte . The two were married in Corsica by a priest that same year. However, this marriage was only entered into with the blessing of the Church.

In 1858 their first child, Roland Bonaparte (1958–1924), was born. After the birth of the first child, the family moves back to the mainland. The daughter Johanna (1861–1910) was born in Belgium. In order to promote the legality of the marriage, the family moves to Paris. In 1870, Pierre Bonaparte murdered the journalist Victor Black, after which the family again took refuge in Belgium. After the fall of their imperial relative, the Bonaparte family moves to London to open a fashion boutique. After starting this venture, the family moved back to Paris to put down permanent roots there. Éléonore-Justine puts all her strength into the realization of an important project, the marriage of her son Roland to a rich heiress. On November 18, 1880, Roland-Napoléon Bonaparte married Marie-Félix Blanc in Paris , the daughter of the wealthy casino owner François Blanc and his wife Marie Blanc . The young woman died of consumption shortly after the birth of her only daughter Marie. Thereupon the now widowed Princess Bonaparte took over the education of her wealthy granddaughter. On her initiative, Princess Marie Bonaparte married Prince George of Greece .

Éléonore-Justine Bonaparte died at the age of 73 in the family's magnificent city palace in Paris. She did not live to see her granddaughter's marriage to a Greek prince.
