Éléonore Faucher (born January 10, 1973 in Nantes ) is a French film director and screenwriter .

Life

Faucher studied film from 1991 at the École Louis-Lumière in Noisy-le-Grand near Paris . Here she shot her first short film Les toilettes de Belle-ville until 1996 , which received various awards. Her second short film was Ne prends pas le large in 1998 . Since the mid-1990s, Faucher has also worked as a camera assistant for various short and feature films, including Kennedy and I (1999).

In 2000 Faucher began working on her feature film debut Die Perlenstickerinnen , which was finally filmed from 2003 and was released in 2004. The pearl embroiderer received three César nominations and was nominated for two European film awards. Leading actress Lola Naymark was awarded a Prix ​​Lumières for Best Young Actress. Faucher’s second feature film Gamines, based on a novel by Sylvie Testud , was released in 2009. On behalf of arte , Faucher made the television film Stranded from 2012 based on a novel by Claudie Gallay , which premiered in September 2013 at the Festival de la Fiction TV.
