Eseka (or Eséka ) is the capital of the district of Nyong-et-Kéllé in the region Center in Cameroon .
geography
Éséka is located in western Cameroon, about 60 kilometers southwest of the capital Yaoundé .
religion
Éséka is the seat of the Diocese of Eséka .
traffic
Éséka is located at the intersection of the P9 and P10 provincial roads and the D91 department road. There is also an airfield.
The city has a Camrail station on the Douala – Ngaoundéré line . A serious railway accident occurred here on October 21, 2016, with over 75 dead and 600 injured. The cause of the accident is still unclear, probably ailing rails caused the derailment. After a road block due to a bridge collapse, additional wagons were attached to the train for the passengers avoiding the train. Even before Éséka, up to 20 wagons are said to have detached themselves from the train, derailed and, in some cases, fell into an abyss.
