Étienne Chatiliez

Étienne Chatiliez (born June 17, 1952 in Roubaix , Département Nord ) is a French film director and screenwriter .

After a career as a commercial filmmaker, Chatiliez turned to fiction in the late 1980s and made his highly acclaimed directorial debut with Life is a long, calm river . The social comedy, which tells the story of two 12-year-old children who were mixed up when they were born and raised in the wrong family, was a critical and audience hit and won four Césars , including Chatiliez for Best First Work and Best Screenplay . The directorial debutant remained loyal to the comedy and staged the award-winning film Das Glück lies in der Wiese and Tanguy - Der Nesthocker , in each of which Sabine Azéma played the leading female role.
