action

"You're so sweet! If you want, you can stay with us your whole life. ”This is what the new parents Edith and Paul Guetz promise their son, not realizing that he will take up the offer and that he is still there twenty-eight years later. The mother, who is now annoyed by her son, is already undergoing psychotherapeutic treatment and has hiccups every time she is asked when her son will finally move out.

Edith and her husband Paul finally lose their patience and try to disgust the permanent student from their shared apartment with abstruse methods. Tanguy (known as the Pekingese by his grandmother Odile because of his sinology studies ) reacts to power outages, moldy fish waste behind the shelf or shirts that are shrunk while washing with Asian composure and always has a Confucian saying ready.

When Tanguy finally agreed to undress, the young man suffered a nervous breakdown on the first evening in his own four walls, which was followed a short time later by another. Tanguy returns to his parents.

But a short time later the parents have had enough of Tanguy and throw him out of the apartment. After the Nesthocker goes so far, even in court a right to stay under Article 203 of the Civil Code to enforce, he falls, without knowing it, in a mental feud with his desperate parents. While Edith is now resigned to the presence of her son, Paul reacts with outbursts of anger and even tries to hire two thugs who are supposed to drive his son out of the house for good.

Tanguy evaded the renewed tensions a little later by secretly moving to China. Only months later does he inform his parents of his whereabouts.

In the meantime - irony of the film - with reference to the fact that the legal regulation claimed by her grandson also applies to her, her grandmother Odile, who had an accident at home.

Tanguy lives with his pregnant Chinese friend Mei Lin in the household of their parents in Beijing . While mother, father and grandmother explore the Chinese capital, everyone is amazed that Mei Lin is still pregnant. The due date is long overdue, and just as Tanguy did not want to leave home, his child also seems to want to stay in the mother's womb longer than necessary.

Reviews

  • “Chatiliez 'film with its perfect actors stands and falls: Hélène Duc, as a serene grandmother, questions her son Paul’s" love for monkeys ", while Eric Berger as Tanguy plays his part with such an annoying complacency that you only get that Want to pull hair. Sabine Azéma and André Dussolier shoot the bird, of course [...]: With obvious joy they play the parts of the diabolical parents, who are initially ashamed of their venom and the spiritual abysses, but then more and more enjoy thinking up more and more wicked things win.
