Étienne LeNoir (watchmaker)
Étienne LeNoir (also Lenoir and Le Noir, * 1699 in Paris ; † 1778 there , master since 1717) was a French watchmaker .
Life
LeNoir came from a family of watchmakers that had lived in Paris since the 16th century. In his time he was one of the outstanding masters of his craft . His reputation was not based on his own inventions, but on his ability to produce watches of consistently high quality in large numbers in his well-organized company. His sons Étienne LeNoir II. And Pierre Étienne LeNoir also signed their products with their father's name, which was effective in advertising. The workshop existed until the 1820s and continued to use this signature. The brothers managed the family business and worked together with renowned bronzers and boîtiers. Among others with Charles Cressent and Jacques Dubois . They supplied important watch dealers and the courts in Madrid, Naples and Munich.

- Small wall cartel, engraved and gilded bronze, decorated with leaves and flowers, inscribed on the dial with "Etienne Lenoir, à Paris" from the time of Louis XV.
