Etienne Pavilion

Étienne Pavillon (* 1632 in Paris ; † January 10, 1705 ibid) was a French lawyer and writer.

Life

Pavilion was a nephew of the Bishop of Alet Nicolas Pavillon . He studied theology and later switched to law. After successfully completing his studies, Pavillon worked as a public prosecutor in Metz , in the Moselle department.

In 1691 the Académie française appointed him to succeed the late writer Isaac de Benserade ( Fauteuil 7 ); he himself was followed in 1705 by the bishop of Avranches , Fabio Brûlart de Sillery , in this place.

1701 Pavillon became a member of the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres .

Voltaire described Étienne Pavillon as … doux maix faible pavilion .
