Ókomin forneskjan is the fourth music album by the Icelandic progressive rock band Þursaflokkurinn , which consists of unpublished recordings (demos, live recordings and unreleased fully arranged pieces) from the entire creative period of the band.

overview

Musically, this compilation is very diverse, as some unreleased pieces were found for each album.

In the original sense, Ókomin forneskjan is just a collection of tracks recorded in 1983 and 1984 that should have been the band's fifth album. This plan was then discarded, so that the recordings remained unpublished until February 2008. Musically, these can be more easily integrated into the genres of art rock and post rock . With the title song Ókomin forneskjan , the entire band can be heard again , at least with the exception of Karl Sighvattson ( Hammond organist from late 1978 to late 1980).

As bonus songs there are numerous live versions of the band's unpublished and published albums, from the folky Svífur uppá silfurhimni from 1978 to the new wave piece Anarkí to the Canterbury jazz piece Frá Vesturheimi by, recorded for Finnish radio in 1979 Þursabit with Lárus Grímsson as the guest Hammond organist or the rocking Gegnum brings og hæðir from the fourth album, played on the occasion of the death of Karl Sighvattson in 1991 at the memorial festival of his.

Publications

The album is part of the Þursar mini vinyl CD anniversary box set released in February 2008 and is currently only available in this box.
