Þursabit is the second album by the Icelandic progressive rock band Þursaflokkurinn , who recorded this album in the spring of 1979 and released it on June 15, 1979. Also Þursabit (or Thursabit , as it is sometimes written in simplified form according to the Icelandic wording), like its predecessor, also achieved great success in Iceland and brought the band an appearance on Icelandic television and a tour through the Scandinavian states to Schleswig-Holstein and the Benelux countries.
overview
In the band's second work, the six musicians already play predominantly progressive rock and jazz rock . Thanks to Karl Sighvattson's Hammond organ , however, the music is more diverse and mostly goes in the direction of melodic rock. Only in the first half of the album is there typical rock music as a "contrast program", which is a lot harder than on the previous album .
The main part of the album are the last four pieces, some of which merge seamlessly into one another and also look like a suite because of the dreamy mood . The playful Bannfæring and the wide sound surfaces of the first part of Sjö sinnum ... are particularly interesting .
Brúðkaupsvísur , which is reminiscent of marching songs and , apart from the Icelandic vocals, could also have come from the Dutch rock group Focus , is always popular with the live audience .
Re-releases
The LP, released in 1979, was also released on CD in the early 1990s and is also in the Þursar anniversary box released in 2008 .
