The Series 2064 of the ÖBB is a Verschubdiesellok whose use on the railway network of the port of Linz train limited.

history

The globalization and the associated cost pressure in many companies led either to close or to submit the company's network traffic that had been previously carried out with own Werksdieselloks. For example, OMV shut down its shunting operation with the company's own steam storage locomotives a few years ago and transferred it to ÖBB, which has since carried out this with series 2068 pre-series locomotives .

A prime example of this is the Linz port railway: Since the beginning of 1998, the ÖBB has taken over the management without using its own locomotives. At that time , the Linz port railway owned two Jenbacher diesel locomotives , which became the property of ÖBB in 2003. These received the series designation 2064, but they kept the old serial number. They got the locomotive numbers 2064.006 and 007 and were eventually used on the port railway network. The two locomotives were delivered to the Linz port railway by the Jenbacher works in 1964 and 1967 respectively. The manufacturer also supplied other locomotives of this type to Voest Alpine , the Italian state railways and the Russian SZD - the box structure of the export machines, however, differed considerably from the usual shape. From this basic type, even electro-hydraulic shunting locomotives of the 1067 series were created .

The use of the locomotives was limited to the track network of the Linz port railway. Due to the high repair costs and the associated long stoppage time for locomotive 2064.006, it was decommissioned on October 1, 2000 - locomotive 2064.007 on June 1, 2001. Both locomotives were sold to Lyaritz .

construction

The 2064 series is the bigger sister of the ÖBB 2062 series . The mechanical part of the lot corresponds to an extended 2062 model with a 10,500 mm LÜP and a 600 hp diesel engine. A big difference to the series 2062 and 2162 is that the series 2064 is a three-axle locomotive in which the central axis has no flange . The locomotives have a large fuel tank in the rear front section, while the entire drive system is located in the front. The two locomotives were not repainted, but left in blood orange color.

technology

The entire drive system and the brake system basically correspond to the series 2062 and 2162. Since the locomotives are only used in port operations, an Indusi was not installed, but Sifa is available.
