The Austrian Conference on Spatial Planning (ÖROK) is one of covenant , countries and communities supported body to coordinate regional planning at the state level.

Agendas

One of the central tasks is the development and publication of the Austrian spatial development concept . This usually appears every 10 years. The current Austrian spatial development concept is the spatial development concept 2011 (ÖREK 2011). This is a recommendation that is not binding. However, these recommendations are usually preceded by basic scientific work and intensive consultations in the specialist bodies of the ÖROK.

The Federal Chancellor , the Governors , the Presidents of the Austrian Association of Municipalities and the Austrian Association of Cities , as well as the interest groups are involved in the conference .

History and organization

The conference was founded on February 25, 1971. The permanent chairmanship of the political conference of the ÖROK is held by the Federal Chancellor, first deputy chairman the respective chairman of the governor's conference , second deputy chairman - alternating from session to session - representatives of the association of municipalities and cities. Further sub-units are the deputy commission (preparatory organ of the political conference), the standing subcommittee (working on the spatial development concept, the implementation of the ÖREK 2001 within the framework of projects, the publication of the regional planning report and the ÖROK atlas), and the regional economy subcommittee (coordinating body for questions the EU regional policy and its implementation in Austria, since 2005). Publications

For over 20 years, the Austrian Conference on Spatial Planning has published the atlas on the spatial development of Austria ( ÖROK-Atlas ) , in which a number of maps are published annually on various key issues. Since 2007, this product has also been available in an online version as ÖROK-Atlas Online .
