Veřejná bezpečnost (Slovakian Verejná bezpečnosť , both abbreviated VB, German public security ) was one of the two departments of the national security corps - Sbor národní bezpečnosti (short SNB). As an executive body, the VB fulfilled the tasks of a police force in what was then Czechoslovakia after the Second World War until 1991.

The police associations were established between 1945 and 1947. In the course of a police reform in 1991, large parts of the VB in the Czech part of the country were renamed and restructured as Policie České republiky (Police of the Czech Republic). In Slovakia , the police are now called Policajný zbor (Police Corps) or Polícia for short .
