The oil fields of Daqing ( Chinese  大慶 油田 , Pinyin Dàqìng Yóutián ), in earlier transcription also Taching , are the largest oil fields in the People's Republic of China . They are located near the city of the same name between the Songhua Jiang and Nen Jiang rivers in Heilongjiang Province .

history

The Daqing Oil Fields were discovered by Li Siguang in 1959 during the Great Leap Forward . Since oil production began in 1960, the Daqing oilfields have produced over 10 billion barrels (1.6 km³) of oil .

Before the start of oil production, 16 billion barrels (2.5 km³) of oil were available in the various reservoirs ; now there are still around 3.6 billion barrels (572,000,000 m³). The current production rate is around 1 million barrels (160,000 m³) per day, which makes the Daqing oil field the fourth-largest oil field in the world. It is believed that 90% of the oil was wasted in the first twenty years of production. The Peak Oil , the date from which returns the flow rate has been achieved 1998th

When the Chinese government began using pinyin , the name of the oil field came to be known as "Daqing". The Daqing Oilfield Company Limited , based in Daqing is for the exploration charge and the development of the oil field. The Daqing Oilfield Company Limited was planning from 2004 to 2010 the delivery rates per year to reduce by 7%, to extend the life of the oil field.

In 2003, the field's production fell below the 50 million ton mark to 48.4 million tons for the first time in 27 years. In 2012, the production of PetroChina was given as "stable over 40 million tons of oil equivalent ". However, this also includes the production figures for natural gas. The Changqing oil field with over 42 million tons became China's most productive oil field in 2012.
