The Ölgrundteich is a pond that is fed by the Walbke .
Geographical location
The pond is between Walbeck and Wiederstedt in the Ölgrund, a valley. The pond is the starting point for various hiking trails in the Ölgrundteich recreation area.
history
In the 17th and 18th centuries, the pond was used to supply the water-powered machines in the surrounding mines with energy. In 1958 the pond was renovated with the support of VEB Walzwerk Hettstedt and turned into a local recreation area. At that time there was the possibility of navigating the pond with rentable row boats and pedal boats.
