Esophagoscopy
A reflection of the esophagus is called esophagoscopy . This is done with the help of an endoscope for different clinical pictures . Esophagoscopy is both a diagnostic and a therapeutic procedure. It was first carried out in the 19th century . The doctors Adolf Kussmaul , Johann von Mikulicz , Gustav Killian and the laryngologist Friedrich (Frederico) Anton Semeleder were involved in the development of esophagoscopy .

The esophagoscopy is used z. B. at:
- Difficulty swallowing ( dysphagia )
- Removal of foreign bodies from the esophagus
- Heartburn ( reflux esophagitis )
- Diagnosis of esophageal cancer ( esophageal cancer ).
