Austrian Entomological Society

The Austrian Entomological Society (ÖEG) is a scientific specialist society that was founded in 1975 and is based in Vienna .

Its aim is the non-profit promotion, documentation and representation of scientific entomology in Austria . This is supposed to be done through

  • Promotion of contacts within Austrian entomologists
  • Promoting contacts between entomologists and the public
  • Representation of Austrian entomologists at international bodies and events
  • Awarding of prizes for excellent scientific achievements on the subject of insects or terrestrial arthropods
  • Publication of scientific articles on the subject of insects or terrestrial arthropods

Publications

  • The scientific journal Entomologica Austriaca has been published since 2001. Initially the journal was published quarterly, 2003/2004 biannually and since 2005 it has been published annually. Volume 24 was published in 2017.
