The Austrian Society for Music and Medicine (ÖGfMM) is the Austrian interest group in the fields of musicians' medicine , music physiology and music psychology .

organization

The association founded in 2009 by Austrian members of the German Society for Music Physiology and Musicians' Medicine is headed by Matthias Bertsch , whose deputy is Berit Schneider-Stickler . Honorary members are Eckart Altenmüller and Erich Vanecek . The society is based at the Institute for Music and Movement Education / Rhythmics and Music Physiology at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . The technical collaboration takes place in 6 working groups: "Musicians Medicine", "Music Psychology & Coaching", "Music Physiology / Breathing and Body Work", "Hearing Health", "Music Effects" and "Science and Research".

aims

The association aims to promote science , research, teaching and networking in the context of the interdisciplinary areas of interest of the departments: music , medicine , physiology and psychology, with particular attention to the support for physical and mental illnesses of musicians . This includes the improvement of preventive , diagnostic and therapeutic measures. (Musicians' medicine, music physiology, music psychology)

Emphasis is placed on the interdisciplinary cooperation of those involved in the training and professional support of musicians, such as instrumental and vocal teachers, ergonomists, natural scientists, instrument manufacturers, doctors, dentists, physiotherapists and speech therapists, sports and musicologists, music psychologists, coaches, Alexander- Teachers, Feldenkrais educators, music therapists, occupational therapists and facilitators of other similar forms of therapy.

Publications

Since 2010 "newsletters" and conference reports have been published on the company's website.
