Berit Schneider-Stickler (* 1968 in Berlin ) is a specialist in ear, nose and throat medicine and phoniatrics , singer , deputy head of the Clinical Department of Phoniatrics and Speech Therapy at the Univ.-ENT Clinic of the Medical University of Vienna and deputy. President of the Austrian Society for Music and Medicine .

Training

Schneider-Stickler studied human medicine in Berlin and received his doctorate in 1995 in the field of classification and diagnosis of functional voice disorders . She also completed her vocal studies at the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin . She completed several months of research at the University of California, Irvine and the University of Wisconsin – Madison .

She began her ENT specialist training at the University Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic of the Charité, Humboldt University in Berlin and continued this at the University ENT Clinic Essen, where she passed the ENT specialist examination in 1998. She completed additional specialist training in phoniatrics at the Clinical Department of Phoniatrics-Logopedics at the University ENT Clinic for Ear Diseases at the University of Vienna. 2003 habilitated they For clinical relevance of videostroboscopy in the assessment and differential diagnosis of voice disorders and received Venia docendi of the Medical Faculty of the University of Vienna .

Life

Schneider-Stickler has been a specialist in phoniatrics and an advocate of holistic approaches to medical problems since 2002. She is Deputy Head of the Clinical Department of Phoniatrics and Logopedics at the University of ENT Clinic Vienna at the General Hospital of the City of Vienna . She also held teaching positions at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna / Institut Antonio Salieri (singing in music education), at the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt and at the Academy for the speech therapy, phoniatric and audiological service in Vienna.

Since 1998 she has been leading the annual international lecture and discussion groups on voice disorders in actors and singers (VGRSSS). Since 2009 she has been Vice President of the Austrian Society for Music and Medicine and a member of the Presidium of the Austrian Society for Speech Therapy, Phoniatry and Pedaudiology. She is also an active member of the German Society for Otolaryngology, the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, the European Laryngological Society, the Collegium Medicorum Teatri COMET and evta - austria (Association of Austrian Singing Pedagogues, member of european voice teachers association).

Her scientific and clinical focus is in the areas of voice diagnostics, prevention and therapy of voice disorders, phonosurgery, as well as biofilm research on plastics. She regularly appears as a soloist and supports a number of charitable projects that deal with life and dealing with illness. Since October 2007 she has been married to Friedrich Stickler , the former president of the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB).
