Erich Vanecek

Erich Vanecek (born November 18, 1942 in Vienna ) is a professor emeritus at the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Vienna , pianist and founder of music psychology in Austria.

Life

He completed his studies in psychology and anthropology at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate as Dr. phil. in 1968. For two years he worked as a business psychologist for the Austrian Federal Railways. From 1970 he devoted himself entirely to science and was assistant to Prof. Hubert Rohracher . In 1983 he completed his habilitation on applied learning psychology in the classroom.

Since 1992 Erich Vanecek has been the head of the music psychology department at the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Vienna. His main focus was on the psychological aspects of playing instruments as well as researching the physiological, cognitive and personality-related basics of music reception and active music-making. "He made research into the history of psychology socially acceptable at today's Vienna Psychological Institute"

Since 1999 he has been a board member and head of the European Cultural Initiative research group. Since 2006 he has been the director of the Vienna Joy of Chamber Music Association, and in 2009 a founding member of the Austrian Society for Music and Medicine ( musicians' medicine , music physiology , music psychology )

Erich Vanecek and his wife Elfriede traveled a lot with the piano duo Vanecek in Austria and Germany. He wrote music psychological publications with a focus on brain events and music as well as instrumental psychology.
