Austrian winter sports club
The Austrian Winter Sports Club ( ÖWSC ) is an Austrian ski , winter sports and ice hockey club that was founded in 1904 and joined the Austrian Ski Association in 1905 . In January 1927 he was also accepted into the Austrian ice hockey association . At the time of admission, the association was based in the 20th district of Brigittenau in Vienna .
history
In October 1934 the name was changed to the Austrian Winter Sports Club WAF. The old name was used again for the 1935/36 season. Through the activities of the ÖWSC on the artificial ice rink of the Hotel Panhans am Semmering , which was opened on December 25, 1926, the club was able to improve the quality of the ice hockey game considerably. Thanks to the artificial ice rink, the club was no longer as dependent on the weather as the clubs with natural ice rinks.
In the district championship east, which comprised the areas of Vienna, Niederdonau and Styria, played in the season 1938/39 a syndicate of ÖWSC and Vienna AC .
Vienna ice hockey championships
In the 1927/28 season the ÖWSC played in Group B of the 2nd class in Vienna. Since one reached the first place in the group here, the ÖWSC rose to group A of the 2nd class before the 1928/29 season . The ÖWSC also achieved first place in this group and was included in the first class of the Vienna ice hockey championships as part of an increase in the first class. Within the 1st class, the ÖWSC was divided into group B. Here the club reached second place.
In the 1930/31 season, the ÖWSC played in Group A of the 1st class and took second place. The groups were reorganized due to the increasing number of clubs joining the association. In the 1931/32 season, the ÖWSC is in group B of 1st class and is third in its group.
In the 1932/33 season, the ÖWSC played in Group A of the 2nd class and was able to win this division, so that the club rose to the 1st class before the following season.
In the 1935/36 season , the ÖWSC belonged to the newly founded Vienna League . In the 1936/37 season, the ÖWSC took fourth and last place in the league and therefore rose again to 1st class. In the 1st class, the ÖWSC 1937/38 can only take the last place. Since the 1st class can finish their games before the Nazis invade Austria, the result is still fixed here.
