Útvar rychlého nasazení

Útvar rychlého nasazení Policie ČR , URNA for short (also URN) is the special unit of the Czech police for counter-terrorism . The unit was established in 1981 as part of the then National Security Corps ( Sbor národní bezpečnosti ). The police chief decides on their dispatch with the consent of the interior minister .

The unit specializes in counterterrorism and hostage rescue .

organization

The URNA was divided into three sections:

  • rapid reaction group: three task forces (60 men in total)
  • special services: snipers, documentarians, intermediaries, drivers (25 men in total)
  • administrative-logistical section (15 men in total)

equipment

The URNA has specially converted Mercedes-Benz G-Class off-road vehicles. In addition to the submachine gun HK MP5 assault rifles come vz. 58 and pistols of the ČZ 75 model were used. The unit also has Glock 17 and SIG Sauer pistols and uses SIG-Sauer SSG 3000 sniper rifles .

European cooperation

URNA cooperates within the framework of the ATLAS network with special police units from other European countries.
