The E 225.001 , originally designated as WIEN 1 , was a two-axle electric locomotive with a central driver's cab of the former Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD), which was originally built as a test locomotive for the second electrification attempt on the Vienna steam light rail .

history

It was created on the basis of a tender by the Vienna Stadtbahn. František Křižík designed the electrical part, the mechanical part was produced by the StEG locomotive factory in 1906. The locomotive was created for a power system with double catenary, 2 × 1.5 kV direct voltage to earth and 3 kV between the contact wires with two pantographs diagonally offset from one another . The third ladder formed the runways. The two engines of the locomotive had two anchors each.

In 1918 the locomotive was returned to Prague . In 1927 it was converted by Škoda in Plzeň for the electrical Prague connection line with 1.5 kV DC voltage . The ČSD designated the locomotive as E 225.001 and used it as a shunting locomotive in Prague Central Station . After the voltage was changed to 3 kV direct current in 1962 , the locomotive in the depot Praha Masarykovo nádraží (later Praha střed) was powered by an electric welding unit with a voltage of 60 volts. It was later exhibited as a memorial in this depot. Today the locomotive is owned by the National Technical Museum in Prague (NTM).
