The ČSD series M 232.2 were two-axle diesel multiple units of the former Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) for traffic on main and branch lines.

history

Immediately after the production of the M 122.0 , 20 railcars of the same design were purchased from Vagonka Studénka in Studénka . In terms of appearance, they were very similar to their predecessor vehicles. The Tatra petrol engine was also reused, but its output was increased to 120 hp compared to the previous vehicle. For use on the lines of the border area between Czechoslovakia and Germany in southern Bohemia and there on the local railways of the Bohemian Forest , they were designed as vehicles with two driven axles for routes in mountainous regions. As a result of the annexation of the Sudetenland to Germany in autumn 1938, the vehicles M 232.201–206, 212–214 and 218–220 had to be handed over to the Deutsche Reichsbahn . There they were given road numbers 136 251 to 136 262.

It is not known how many vehicles survived the Second World War . Two vehicles remained with the Reichsbahndirektion Regensburg after the war and were taken out of service there in 1954. The rest came back to the ČSD . They had to quit service by 1956. No vehicle of the M 232.2 has survived.

technical features

Outline of the power transmission according to the ČKD-RM system

The body of the motor vehicle corresponded to that of the M 122.0 series . They had a TATRA engine with 120 hp, which was also used in the M 120.4 and M 130.2 , just not with the option of changing the direction of rotation. The electrical power transmission was like the M 232.1 RM from ČKD .
