Stefan Therstam
Stefan Therstam (* 1958 in Eskilstuna , Sweden ) is a Swedish organist and university professor .
Therstam studied at the Royal College of Music Stockholm among other organ , organ improvisation and conducting , the latter with Eric Ericson . In 1988 Therstam won the International Organ Improvisation Competition in Haarlem , the Netherlands . Since 1999 he has been organist at the Engelbrektskirche . In 2002 he was appointed professor for organ improvisation at the Royal Music School in Stockholm. There he is also dean of the Faculty of Classical Music .
Therstam has recorded various sound carriers and is on concert tours around the world. He is also a regular juror at organ improvisation competitions, for example at the European Church Music Festival in Schwäbisch Gmünd .
