The CSD-U series 44902 was a narrow gauge - steam locomotive of forest tracks with challenging terrain profile, after 1918 by the Czechoslovakian state railway was acquired (CSD).

history

The U 44.902 class machine was one of several four-axle, uniform narrow-gauge tender locomotives that had been assigned to various forest railways in the northern part of the monarchy by Krauss in Linz under the factory type B8 around 1909 . These could have relatively steep gradients, e.g. B. in Hungarian Transylvania . Locomotives of this type are known by the KkStB as the Cv series . 4 of these acting as composite locomotives performed their service on the Bukowinaer local railways . Production of this type continued into the 1920s.

Our locomotive is known to have been in service on the private works railway Slaný - Smečno - Šternberk at the local sugar factory from 1909 to around 1935 . At that time the locomotive had a track width of 700 mm. After the railway was closed, the locomotive was re-gauged to 760 mm gauge, taken over by the Tereswatal Forest Railway and added to the ČSD U 44.902 series . The machine had been stationed in Ust-Tschorna since 1937 .

The locomotive was in service in its area of operation from 1937 to around 1950. In 1939, when the Tereswatal forest railway was continued to be operated by the private company Taracsvölgyi erdei vasút (TEV, German "Forest Railway Theresiental"), the locomotive was given the designation K 44.912 .

The literature does not provide any information about other areas of application.
