Together with one other male and two female alligators, Čabulītis came to the Riga Zoo in 1935. The latter were euthanized in 1971 and 1977 after being injured in confrontations, the other alligator man came to Kiev . In 1977 Čabulītis measured 2.90 m and weighed 140 kg. He spent most of his life in the old crocodile house, which was made possible by donations. In 1958, 1970 and 1980 there were problems with sufficient heating, so that the alligator did not eat any food for months. In 2001 he moved to the tropical house, where he lived until his death.
