Ingolstadt Audi is the third passenger train station in operation in Ingolstadt , alongside Ingolstadt main train station and Ingolstadt Nord train station . The new stop at the Audi factory premises is intended to serve both the employees of the Audi factory and the visitors to the 2020 State Garden Show .

The stop is largely within the Audi factory premises, but is open to the public and part of the so-called "North Traffic Hub". The associated bus station is served by a total of 13 bus lines of the Ingolstädter Verkehrsgesellschaft (INVG), and there are also bicycle parking spaces available. Quick access to the Audi factory premises is possible via a turnstile.

The new stop is intended to help reduce inner-city traffic in Ingolstadt due to Audi employees from the surrounding area.

history

In 2000 the first investigation into a train stop in the area of the Audi factory was carried out.

On July 21, 2016, the contract for the realization of the Ingolstadt Audi stop was signed. Construction began in March 2018. The 15 million euro stop opened on December 2, 2019. 40 regional trains stop Mondays to Fridays. 3000 passengers are expected every day. The financing was jointly taken over by the Free State of Bavaria, the City of Ingolstadt, Audi AG and Deutsche Bahn.

The installation of a turning track in Gaimersheim station , which is to be installed by the end of 2024, will also enable trains from Regensburg to stop.
