The Ingolstadt Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (INVG) is a Ingolstadt service companies in the field of public transport . It currently has 26 employees and 326 drivers in the affiliated companies.

Today the INVG supplies local public transport in Ingolstadt and the neighboring towns with its buses . It is a member of the Zweckverband Verkehrsgemeinschaft Region Ingolstadt (VGI), so all lines operated by the INVG are subject to the VGI network tariff.

history

INVG was founded on November 15th, 1988 by the city of Ingolstadt . The sole shareholder is Stadtwerke Ingolstadt Beteiligungen GmbH .

The enterprise

The structure of the Ingolstädter Verkehrsgesellschaft corresponds to that of a private company. The aim of their activities (in his own words) is not aimed at making profit, but the law on the regionalization of public transport regionalization Act (RegG) prescribed securing sufficient use of the population with transport services in local public transport implement as a task of general interest. In addition to the urban area of Ingolstadt, this also applies to 16 communities in the districts of Eichstätt and Pfaffenhofen ad Ilm . For the greater Ingolstadt area, INVG received the order to build a well-functioning local transport network. In order to be able to fulfill this mandate, the INVG receives grants from the political communities.

Due to route cancellations and restrictions on the offer, the daily number of passengers fell in the period 2000–2007 from 55,000 (2000) by around 16% to only 46,000 (March 2007). From 2006 to 2007 alone, the number of daily passengers decreased by 3.9% (source: Donaukurier dated May 30, 2007). In 2008 the downward trend could be stopped. There was a slight increase in demand of 3.7% and in 2009 demand rose by a further 2.8%, and in 2010 by a further 0.4%.

Currently, 49,908 (as of 3/11) people are transported on the buses that drive on behalf of the INVG on working days .

The following transport companies operate as subcontractors on behalf of INVG :

  • Oswald Buchberger, Omnibus- und Autovermietung GmbH
  • Regionalbus Augsburg GmbH
  • Josef Spangler OHG
  • City bus Ingolstadt GmbH
  • Travel agency Stempfl Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH
  • Stanglmeier GmbH
  • Hengl Reisen eK
  • Jägle GmbH

The "three-level model"

Local transport is currently being implemented and implemented by 6 regional and private bus transport companies, as INVG itself is not a bus company. A large number of contracts between the INVG and the affiliated companies guarantee the transport of passengers. This model bears the term "three-level model" in technical terms and is currently the most modern form of organization in local public transport . However, this model has not been implemented consistently in so far as INVG is the owner or co-owner of two of the bus companies commissioned, namely KVB Ingolstadt (which even handles the majority of the trips together with its subsidiaries) and the Augsburg regional bus .
