The Garmisch-Partenkirchen transport association ( VG-GAP for short ) is a tariff cooperation between three transport companies that operate bus routes in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district . The VG-GAP was founded on June 1, 2001, when the Garmisch-Partenkirchen municipal works (local buses Garmisch-Partenkirchen, also called "green bus"), the Karl Hans Terne Co. OHG Verkehrsgesellschaft Garmisch-Partenkirchen / Eibsee-Verkehrsgesellschaft OHG ( "Eibsee-Bus", also called "white-blue bus") and Regionalverkehr Oberbayern GmbH (DB Oberbayernbus) merged to form the Garmisch-Partenkirchen transport association. Since then, continuous tickets have been issued for cross-company bus trips ( DB Regio AG, the rail division and the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn are not integrated into the VG-GAP) within the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district. However, there is no real community tariff as in other transport communities, the respective house tariffs of the companies involved in the VG-GAP continue to exist.

How the combi tariff works

The so-called "combined tickets" from VG-GAP are 15 percent cheaper than the normal fare of the transport companies involved. The fare for such a combination ticket is the result of adding up the sections of the route to the respective in-house tariff of the bus company used - the 15 percent VG-GAP discount is then deducted from this sum. Single tickets for adults, single tickets for children, multi-journey tickets (7 journeys), weekly tickets and monthly tickets are offered at the community rate.

particularities

  • As part of the VG-GAP, the three transport companies involved also mutually recognize time cards issued on routes operated in parallel according to the in-house tariff of the respective partner company.
  • With a combined VG-GAP ticket, a maximum of two of the three bus companies involved can be used per trip. In practice, however, this regulation does not represent any restriction for passengers, because all bus courses serve the municipality of Garmisch-Partenkirchen (where there are then direct transfer options between all three companies).
  • Holders of a Garmisch-Partenkirchen spa card or a guest ticket for the municipality of Farchant can only use the local buses of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen municipal works ("green buses") free of charge, but within the VG-GAP, tourist cards do not count as tickets within the framework of mutual recognition of season tickets are valid in the buses of other companies.
  • The Grainauer "Ferien-Umwelt-Ticket" is only recognized in the buses of the Eibsee Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH & Co KG Garmisch-Partenkirchen / Eibsee-Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH & Co KG ("white-blue bus"), in the "green" local buses of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen municipal works and however, it does not apply to buses operated by DB Oberbayernbus.
  • The DB BahnCard is not recognized as part of the VG-GAP, but DB Oberbayernbus recognizes the BahnCard at its respective house tariff (but not the Garmisch-Partenkirchener Gemeindewerke and the Eibsee Verkehrsgesellschaft in their local buses). For BahnCard holders, it is therefore generally cheaper to buy tickets at the company tariff of the companies used than to buy a combined VG-GAP ticket.
  • The other bus lines in the district (which do not touch the area of the city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and therefore operate isolated from the VG-GAP bus network) are not integrated into the VG-GAP. These include the DB Oberbayernbus lines around Murnau am Staffelsee in the northern district, the Bad Kohlgrub local line of the Reindl transport company, the regular services operated by the Mittenwald spa administration (Mittenwald - Elmau, Mittenwald - Ferchensee, ski and guest bus Mittenwald and the ski and Loipenbus Oberes Isartal) and the "Panorama-Express" Wallgau - Elmau from Franz Kriner.
