Ingolstadt freight center
The Ingolstadt Freight Transport Center (abbreviated: GVZ Ingolstadt ) is a freight transport center that is located directly next to the Audi factory premises on the northern outskirts of the Upper Bavarian city of Ingolstadt . It was built in 1995 to bring the Audi AG suppliers closer to the factory premises and has grown steadily since then.
The industrial park of the GVZ Ingolstadt currently has a total area of 83 ha (830,000 m² ), on which there are ten halls with a usable area of 220,000 m². This consists of 140,000 m² of space for production and storage, 60,000 m² of remaining space for service providers and 20,000 m² of office space. The freight center has a container transshipment station with KLV terminal, at which around 30,000 loading units (as of 2005) are transshipped . The Audi AG factory premises are connected to the GVZ Ingolstadt by a specially constructed connecting bridge. In the area of the goods traffic center there is also a large petrol station, while building J houses the 4-star hotel "Hotel im GVZ" with a size of 70 rooms.
The Ingolstadt GVZ is connected to the Ingolstadt – Treuchtlingen railway line by a largely electrified siding called Ingolstadt Nord Audi . This double-track connection branches into six individual loading tracks on the GVZ site. The city's two large marshalling yards, the north and central station, are around 3.5 km and 6.9 km away by rail, respectively.
The Ingolstadt Nord junction of the A 9 is around 6.3 km from the GVZ Ingolstadt, and the Lenting motorway exit is around 8.7 km. The federal highways 13 and 16 are around 2 km away.
