Čestmír Jeřábek

Čestmír Jeřábek (born August 18, 1893 in Litomyšl , † October 15, 1981 in Brno ) was a Czech writer , dramaturge and literary critic .

Čestmír Jeřábek attended grammar schools in Litomyšl and Brno and then studied law in Prague and Innsbruck . At the end of the First World War he served in the Austrian army in Italy . From 1919 to 1949 he worked as an employee in the Brno City Administration. In 1921 he was one of the founders of the literary group ( Literární skupina ), an association of young Moravian authors, and edited the magazine Gast (Host). From 1945 to 1948 he was elected chairman of the Moravian Writers' Association ( Sdružení moravských spisovatelů ). He wrote for many newspapers and magazines, including The Bell (Zvon), The Way (Cesta), Tribuna, The Guest (Host), People's Newspaper (Lidové noviny), Moravian Newspaper (Moravské noviny), Equality (Rovnost), Literary Newspaper (Literární noviny) and Creation (Tvorba).

Jeřábek works belong to Czech Dadaism . At first he was influenced by Expressionism , then he wrote historical and psychological novels.
