İbrahim Serhat Canbolat

İbrahim S. Canbolat (born October 15, 1959 in Osmaniye ) is a Turkish political scientist and writer.

Canbolat is a full professor at the Institute for International Relations at Uludağ University in Bursa ( Turkey ). He is an expert in the field of the European Union and German foreign policy .

In the late 1970s, he learned German at the universities in Karlsruhe and Stuttgart . In 1980 he began studying political science and sociology at the University of Heidelberg . In 1986 he completed his master's thesis with Frank R. Pfetsch . Back in Turkey, Canbolat did his doctorate at the University of Istanbul with Sükrü Hanioğlu . He received his doctorate in 1992. Canbolat Hoca has been a professor at Uludağ University since 1991 . In 1996 he became a lecturer and since 2002 he has been professor of international relations. His focus is on German and Turkish foreign policy as well as the European Union system.

In addition to science, Canbolat is also committed to poetry. During his student days he published a Turkish-German volume of poetry with the title “Sehnsucht Rose”. He is a great admirer of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and translated Goethe's “ West-Eastern Divan ” into Turkish in 2001.
